Black Sherif Allegedly Arrested at Kotoka International Airport Over Contractual Breach

Ghanaian musician Black Sherif was arrested at Kotoka International Airport on July 19, 2023, after returning to Ghana.

According to Nkonkonsa on their Instagram handle, the reason for his arrest was related to a cruise ship event.

A company called Cruise People Limited, also known as “Your Cruise People” had engaged Black Sherif’s management for him to perform at the second edition of their musical cruise called Afro Cruise Jam. The event was scheduled to take place on August 19, 2023, in Greece.

To secure Black Sherif’s performance, Cruise People Ltd agreed to pay Black Sherif $40,000. They also agreed that an initial payment of $20,000 would be made to him, and in return, he would record a video confirming his participation and availability for the show on the cruise ship.

The company proceeded to pay the initial deposit of $20,000 to Black Sherif’s London account, and he acknowledged receiving the payment.

However, after several email exchanges, Cruise People Ltd. asked him to provide the video confirming his performance on the cruise ship as agreed upon.

They also informed him that they had arranged a media engagement with the Multimedia Group on May 19, 2023, at 3 pm, during which the video announcing his performance would be broadcasted to increase the event’s popularity.
